Alexander Reda is a multi-award-winning Canadian costume designer, whose career spans more than 25 years in the film and television industry. He studied fashion design at Ryerson University (now Metropolitan University). Following his graduation, he worked as an independent fashion designer, selling his collection across Canada. He was voted one of Canada’s top ten young designers at the time.

He began his costuming career at the CBC in Toronto, where he honed his skills for eight years before becoming a freelance designer. He has had the opportunity to work on many projects over the course of his career, both Canadian and international, and has designed both contemporary and period productions. His work has taken him to locations across Canada, the US, Britain and Jordan, and the results have been seen on such platforms as CBC, Netflix, AMC and Showtime. He is proud to have created the looks for some of the most iconic Canadian characters, including Detective William Murdoch on Murdoch Mysteries, Anne of Green Gables in Anne with an E, and Terry Fox in the Terry biopic.

Alexander has received six nominations for the Canadian Screen Award, and has won three times: for Hemingway vs. Callaghan in 2003, Murdoch Mysteries in 2015 and, most recently, for Anne with an E in 2020.

Over the course of his career he has designed and created looks for hundreds of characters, helping to bring each of them to life from concept to screen. Alexander recently wrapped work on season 2 of the award-winning series North of North, which will air this fall on Netflix and CBC.
